Covid-19: We Are Still Here To Help

The government has asked us to remain open to ensure that all key workers, those in the transport sector, those supporting our local communities, and those that rely on their car to collect shopping and fulfil pharmacy needs are able to do so.

We are operating with a limited number of staff and undertaking essential works only, so please call ahead to confirm opening hours. We will endeavor to deliver core opening hours across our Scarborough and Driffield depots, however our Bridlington branch will be closed until further notice.

We continue to offer our mobile tyre fitting solution, so if you need tyres, but don’t wish to leave the house, we can come to you.  Similarly, if you require essential work doing on your car or van, we can Collect and Deliver the vehicle from Scarborough and surrounding areas.

Finally, we are doing everything we can to protect our staff and customers.  Reception areas are been deep cleaned on a regular basis, and we are using sanitising wipes on keys, vehicle door handles, steering wheels, gear sticks and handbrakes. All staff regularly wash their hands and we observe all social distancing guidelines.

In anticipation of the typical lows and highs of the Great British Winter Boro Tyres Autocentres are promoting road and vehicle safety in the local community, and are delighted to be able to offer local residents a Free Winter Safety Check.  

The winter months can be tough on your vehicle, with low temperatures, damp starts and exposure to corrosive salt and grit from the road putting additional strains on your vehicle and its reliability. 

Our Free Winter Check will help keep you and your family safe and legal on the road, as well as reduce the chances of breakdowns and costly repairs.

Should I Buy Winter Tyres?

Now that winter has well and truly set in, it's more important than ever to ensure that your tyres are in good condition to help keep you moving, and stopping safely, in driving conditions that can sometimes be hazardous.

Here at Boro Tyres Autocentres, we can not only offer you a Free Tyre Safety Check to determine the condition of your existing tyres, we also have a range of winter tyres in stock that can often be fitted the same day should you decide that these are the right choice for you.

Our friendly experts are always on hand either in the depot or on the phone to discuss if winter tyres would be a good choice for you based on your vehicle and the driving that you do.  Please do not hesitate to get in touch and we can discuss your specific requirements. 

 

Winter tyres are specifically designed to offer superior performance,  when compared to regular tyres, in cold and wet weather below 7­oC. Softer rubber compound, combined with unique tread patterns help your vehicle grip the road, deliver vastly improved stopping distances and help with cornering performance, enabling you to turn the car in circumstances where you might otherwise skid straight on. To see winter tyres in action, check out these 2 short films which have produced in conjunction with Dunlop and Michelin.

 

Winter tyres are not as expensive as you may think!  Winter tyres, like all tyres, come in different brands, at different levels of quality and therefore at different prices. For example we can offer from stock a 205/55/16 mid range winter tyre for £44.95 - that is fitted including VAT, a new valve and balancing the wheel. On average you could expect to pay about 10 to 15% more for a winter tyre to its equivalent summer tyre, which represents good value considering the benefits it offers in winter conditions.

 

We have around 300 winter tyres in stock between our depots in Scarborough, Bridlington and Driffield, these can often be fitted same day. If, however we don’t have your size in stock we can often order tyres for same day fitting if we know your requirements before 11am. Ordering tyres could not be easier, either call your local depot or book online.
